- Arizona will receive $57,023,278 for weatherization projects through March 31, 2012.
- 6400 homes across Arizona will be weatherized during that period.
- Nationally, for every $1million invested in weatherization, 52 direct and 23 indirect jobs are created.
Weatherization in Arizona
- Since 1977, 24,000 homes have received weatherization assistance.
- More than half a million (500,000) Arizona homes remain eligible for assistance.
- Low-income households spend up to 30% of their annual income on energy bills for non-weatherized homes. Other households spend 5-6%.

Weatherization Tools
- Computerized energy audits and advanced diagnostic equipment determine the most cost-effective measures for each home.
- Typical measures include installing insulation in walls, floors and attics; reducing imbalances in air filtration and pressure; repairing and replacing ducts; repair and replacement of heating and cooling units; replacing broken windows and doors; health and safety tests for combustion, carbon dioxide and gas leaks.
Eligibility
- Households at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. For example, a family of 4 earning $44,700 is eligible.
- Owner-occupied and rental properties are eligible.
